Ocean in Between

We’re two sailors in a sea of other people
Always getting pushed off course by the wind
Patiently waiting just for me to reach you
But like the tide in the morning, you’ll recede again
The text you sent last night at 11:38
I couldn’t tell your mood, but I knew that you weren’t sober
The amount of exclamation marks just gave it away
I wish I could have been with you, I wish that we were closer
But we’re half a world apart
With an ocean in between
Half a world apart
An ocean in between
The stars look nice as I drive through the city
But they don’t make much sense, I hope you’re aware
It takes thousands of years for light to travel the distance
So the stars that shine might no longer be there
Sometimes I worry that that’s what’ll happen to us
I can picture your face so vivid in my mind
But while we’re apart you’ll vanish like stardust
And once I’ve made it across, you’ll be nowhere in sight
Cause we’re half a world apart
With an ocean in between
Half a world apart
An ocean in between
We’re half a world apart
With an ocean in between
Half a world apart
An ocean in between
Shine a light on me
I’m making my way to you, or I’m drowning
We’re half a world apart
With an ocean in between
Half a world apart

Over My Face
05:10
|

Walking in the afternoon in the same exact place
Staring at the grass on the faraway side of the lake
Picking my worries off these trees like they're grapes from the vine
Gonna put them all in this wicker basket of mine
A bird sang around in a voice that I seem to know
I apologized, fed it and told it to go
I thought of a beautiful painting I saw the other day
She made such a lovely picture of such an ugly face
But I can't paint
And I don't know what to say
And I don't know how long I can stay
I let all the contents of this basket expire
Instead of showing them to you like I know you desire
I'm shouting with my body halfway in the lake
As I paint ugly pictures of your beautiful face
Cause I can't paint
At the bottom of the lake
As the still water pulls me under, I see this as fate
The bird's webbed feet
Paddle over my face
And I don't know how long I can stay
